The UGC Creator Brief Template for TikTok Shop Launches
By Sagan Rios · Reviewed 2026-10-13 · 4 min read
A good brief fits on one page: the buyer and problem, the product facts, three angle ideas, allowed and banned claims, the disclosure requirement, deliverables and deadline, and usage rights. It guides creators without scripting them.
Jump to section
Vague briefs produce off-message videos; over-scripted briefs produce stiff ads. The brief's job is to make sure the creator shows the right proof while sounding like themselves.
- Write the buyer and problem in one line.
- Offer optional angles.
- Judge UGC on orders, not views alone
- Examples are illustrative, not guaranteed results
What to include
Keep it short enough to read on a phone.
- Who the buyer is and the problem they have.
- Three facts the video must show.
- Two or three optional angles.
- Claims they must not make.
- #ad or paid-partnership disclosure.
- Deliverables, deadline and usage rights.
Claims and US compliance
Creators must not make claims you cannot substantiate. The FTC expects material connections such as free products or payment to be disclosed clearly. Supplements, cosmetics and children's products may carry extra US rules; check with a qualified professional.
Usage rights
State whether you may run the video as an ad, for how long, and where. Write it down before posting so you can use a winning video in paid campaigns without a dispute.
Process flow
- 1 Shop ready
- 2 Creators
- 3 Brief
- 4 UGC videos
- 5 Spark Ads / GMV Max
- 6 Weekly review
Practical SOP

Illustrative example, not a client case study or performance promise.
FAQs
Should I give creators a script?
Give facts and boundaries, not a word-for-word script. Natural delivery is what makes UGC work.
Where should US brands check UGC rules?
TikTok Shop US Seller University, TikTok advertising policies and the FTC's Endorsement Guides. Some products have extra US requirements. This is not legal advice.
